What are the fighters wearing on their heads?
The headpiece that is worn by the fighters during their walk out is called the Mongkol. It is a form of protection and this sacred headpiece symbolizes the fighter's connection to their trainer, ancestors, and the sport. It's worn during the pre-fight ritual dance, the Wai Kru, but not during the fight itself.

What do they do before the fight?
We strongly encourage the fighters to “seal the ring” which consists of walking around the whole ring counter clockwise with the right hand on the rope and stopping for a brief prayer at each corner. Sealing the ring prevents any bad spirits from entering and protects the boxer. Some fighters do a “Wai Kri Ram Muay” which can be anywhere from 3-8 minutes long and is custom to each fighter and their camp. A traditional Ram Muay ritual involves a dance-like warm-up and a series of movements performed before a fight to give thanks to the fighters coach, family, and god that they believe in.
